nesting

It all started last week after a friend came over for coffee – as we were chatting it suddenly dawned on me that I would need to swap Tabitha’s bedroom over to the spare bedroom so that she had the bigger room and so that once baby arrives the room closest to our bedroom will be ready for our new arrival. Of course there is no time like the present so that afternoon I decided to swap over the rooms. Steve got a bit of a shock when he walked in the door to see Tabitha and I sat on the floor munching a much-needed cookie and slurping a glass of milk amongst a kingsize bed on its side in the living room. It was a well-earned break.
So the rooms are now swapped, cupboards, drawers and shelves have been emptied, sorted, re-organised and put back again. I quite like ‘nesting’ – it gives me a boost to get things done that need to be done that I can usually avoid and forget about. I got around to framing the lovely kitchen prints from Old English Company, I’m so pleased with them and how they have cheered up my dated kitchen. I dug out a vintage patchwork quilt I picked up recently at a garage sale and gave it a good wash and airing – couldn’t put it straight back in the cupboard afterwards so it’s added a bit of comfort and colour to our spare room. I’ve dug out the few items I kept from when Tabitha was born – those little tiny sleepsuits really do make me broody all over again……
The only trouble is that Tabitha has obviously been watching and decided to copy me yesterday – she sorted out her things and ‘tidied them up in her own house’ !!

I’ve had intermittent nesting too – and when it hits, my God! It’s like I I’m a woman possessed. I agree it makes you feel totally smug at what you have accomplished. I also wholeheartedly agree with newborn baby grows. Is there really anything cuter?
I could do with having that nesting instinct today – it’s well and truly not there today but wish I was feeling more productive!!
So funny that your daughter followed in your nesting footsteps. Adorable! And I melted when I saw that pile of baby clothes. Just. melted. Sigh. Love that bunting and quilt too – and those prints! They’re very farmish
Blessings…
THanks so much for stopping by – tiny baby clothes are just a little bit too sweet aren’t they! My dream would be to live on a farm so I can pretend with looking at these prints in the kitchen! xx
My kids are 12 and 11 now so their interests have changed somewhat … but I remember clearly the many years of making dens and houses and them playing together, looking after things (dolls, bears, stuffed animals, unsuspecting guests and each other). Lovely.
